Choose Low when cab entry is the priority
A lower stepping position is worth considering if your factory rail feels too high for comfortable entry. Think about the regular driver and passengers, where their feet naturally land, and the height of the cab.
Low is not a single measurement across the entire range. Current Toyota Low listings describe a platform approximately two inches below their High counterpart. Jeep SnapLok Low describes approximately three inches below its compatible factory slider. Those measurements use different reference points.
Choose High when you want the foothold higher
A High platform is useful when the goal is additional footing closer to the rail, including access to roof-mounted gear. It is not intended to provide the same lower entry point as a Low step.
For GM applications, compare the High, Mid and Low designs offered for the correct generation. Use each product’s photographs and dimensions to judge the position; model-family labels alone do not specify a universal drop height.
Clearance is part of the choice
A lower step extends farther beneath the rail than a higher version within the same product family. Where trail obstacles require the original slider clearance, remove the steps according to the product instructions.
Removable access steps are not a substitute for rock sliders. Do not treat the stepping platform as a recovery point or an additional impact-protection surface.
Height, construction and quantity are different choices
- Height: the position of the stepping surface.
- Construction: the product’s available structural version, such as Standard or Reinforced on supported Toyota listings.
- Quantity: how many access points you want to equip.
More reinforcement does not automatically mean a higher permitted user weight. Read the rating and warranty for the exact product you order.
The simplest way to choose
